Modern rugs

As modern rugs, we refer to a more recent iteration of handmade rugs. Today there are small contemporary industries mostly in India, where they weave handmade rugs in mostly muted colours, adapted to current decorating trends and modern constructions.

The markets of the West absorb this production, and contemporary architects and interior decorators favour them as aesthetic complements to modern, minimal residences or commercial spaces.

However, often there are excesses to be noted in modern rugs, an element that somewhat dims their brilliance. But rugs in this category are not considered investment buys, since they are typically identified with the current decorating trends of each season.

Prices tend to be low; however, this also depends on the name recognition of the western designers who collaborate with the eastern manufacturers and dictate the designs that they prefer.
